Club News

Miramar R/C Flyer Members,

The reserve center has increased the threat condition and has posted a gate guard on the road leading up to our gate. They are conducting a 100% military ID checkpoint. Obviously this creates a problem for our civilian members. After careful discussion with the Officer On Duty with the reserve center we explained that our club operates with permission from MCAS Miramar who has allowed us to maintain civilians in our club. As a result the gate guards should be briefed on this situation.

ALL civilian members will be required to show your Miramar R/C Flyers membership card. Also as a precaution, I would have all current documentation and drivers license for your vehicle just in case they ask for it. Once you are given access drive only to our gate and enter the field. DO NOT turn into the reserve compound.

MILITARY members just show your active duty/retired/DOD ID and you will be allowed access.

With that said, sometimes the left hand forgets to talk to the right hand. If you get a gate guard that has not been briefed this situation, he/she is most likely going to deny you access. Don't get angry with the gate guard. He/She is only doing what they are told. Remain respectfully and contact Jerry Neuberger, Curtis Kitteringham, or Darren Hauptman and we will work to fix the situation. This threat condition may be going on for a few weeks. This is just another one of those unique hurtles to operating on a military installation. Any questions please let us know.

Thanks for the great effort today at the field. We accomplished everything we set out to do in just over 2 hours! We had about 25 members on hand and a few quests as well. The field looks great and is ready for the upcoming events. Photos of the cleanup are available in the gallery. Thank you to all those who attended. You are the reason this club is the bast.
