The MRCF field is located on the east side of the I-15 on the MCAS Miramar base. As a result of this it is subject to to a number of restrictions not typical for a flying field.
Unrestricted access is for current MRCF club members only. Others will have to arrange for a current member to meet them at the gate. There is a phone at the field that will be answered if someone is already at the field. They may be willing to come back to the gate and escort you into the flying site.
Non-members must be escorted by club members at all times. That means when your escort (the MRCF club member ) leaves, you must leave or arrange for another club member to become your escort until they leave.
Because of the active military runway to the south of our field there is absolutely no flying allowed south of the MRCF flying site. We are also subject to a 200 foot flight ceiling below which we must stay during flight.
The airspace licensed to the club consists of the area from the center, southern most point of the improved MRCF strip to 400 feet west, 1000 feet north, and 1000 feet east. The MRCF strip airspace is the area up to 200 feet above ground level (AOL) over the MRCF strip area of operations. All operations shall be conducted north of the southern edge of the MRCF strip; within the MRCF strip airspace described and shall remain within the “line-of-sight” of the flyer. (Members may request a copy of the “MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT – #M67865-02122-85” by contacting any member of the MRCF Board of Directors.)
The Miramar RC Flyers field is located a midst environmentally sensitive land. Please be careful not to leave the unimproved areas.
